    Hi guys,

I downloaded a Dell recovery image (found in another thread) to test activation.

It installed and activated fine in VMWare 16.x.
But I couldn't get the VMWare Tools to install ???
I did some googling but most of the answers were for older versions of VMWare and didn't help.

My guess its the image is lacking some Windows Updates, that the Tools need.
Anyone know which updates maybe needed ?

I don't want to waste time downloading hundreds of updates, just to see if VMWare Tools will work

    Hi Dark Dinosaur,
Thanks for info, I didn't need the Service Stack update, VMWare Tools worked with the first update.
I won't be using the VM for anything, except testing (read as probably braking) activation. ;)

    FYI,
This Dell image activated on boot in VMWare, Proxmox, and Unraid. On both BIOS and UEFI setups.
Just the KB4474419 update needed for VMWare Tools.

I don't know why this is part of a missing update question but can you link me to that post on mdl, containing the download link to that OEM recovery image?

    Hi Enthousiast,
It may not be, but this the Virtualization section ;)

The image is in the VMWare sticky in this section. HERE
