It's hard to tell, but it has MSE built in. But if you're like me, you'll want something else. So far, I know of two options: Webroot and avast! I chose avast! since I've had good experiences with it. I'm sure there are more options, but I haven't bothered going further. I can't wait until Kaspersky gets compatible though!
You realize the Windows Consumer Preview includes antivirus by default right? Its essentially Microsoft Security Essentials re-branded as Windows Defender.
Windows 8 CP comes with its own antivirus, Windows Defender. You cannot install MSE because the functionality of MSE is already included in Windows Defender. If you are looking for antivirus for Windows 8 recommended my Microsoft, go here: technize.net/antivirus-and-internet-security-suites-for-windows-8/
Avast 7, states on their web: [h=3]Windows 8 Beta compatible[/h]avast! 7 runs great on Windows 8 and even has some cool new Windows 8 specific features, such as the Early-Load Antimalware Driver (ELAM), which snaps into the Windows 8 Secure Boot process to provide additional protection against system-level rootkits and bootkits.
That's interesting. I read that it is not compatible with Windows 8. Do MSE and Windows Defender work together at the same time? or Windows Defender gets disabled when MSE is running?
