Jesus Christ people...relax. Go get yourself MSE, and get yourself Defensewall. One of the best HIPS product out there. You can run firefox and go to any stupid porn website without it ever effecting your computer. (basically sandboxes firefox etc) Cheeeeeers! I still think Kaspersky ranked #1, Norton IS #2 and then G-Data #3 (even tho personally I felt it impact my CPU while having Intel I7 with 8 gb of ram...) ANYWAYS, look into defensewall.. fantastic for you lucky bastards who have 32 bit... 64 bit seriously gets deprived of some cool security software like defensewall, sandbox, Drivesentry... .
That still is just an opinion against a lot of hard evidence. Doesn't anybody actually read up on all the links ? I mean, matousec alone tests about 30 different products in 9 different levels, and those results can be swept away because you don't agree ? Yeah right... Just so you know, networking has become my living just recently, and even my superiours acknowledge the importance of projects like matousec and av-comparitives, and should be taken very seriously, especially in a business environment, and even when druling on some donkeyporn site. Anyone with as much as a bit of understanding of the security aspect in a network environment will agree on that. Any way I 'm still very relax, don't know about others though. Can't see why one should get agitated. But you can't blame a guy for falling of his chair laughing when noticing the lack of understanding the difference between opinions and hard evidence. EDIT : and just having a sandbox, doesn't mean it's effective. Norman has a buil in one, but it's pure crap for that matter. Norman suite has a leak percentage of 98%. That means 98% of everything coming your way will pass without you even noticing. That's with a sandbox up and running, bro. I just think people should get up to speed, and realise what a scam a lot of products are. Only a few FW's for example are genuinly effective.
Hiiii Well buddy i m using nod32 av for good detection n light on resources n online armor free firewall KIS 2010 is a resource hog but KIS 2009 was a gr8 software suite
Kaspersky AV 2010 and MalwarebytesAntiMalware for occasional scans. I've had those 2 working with KAV 2009 before that and I haven't had a stitch of trouble for as long as I can remember. I just use the Windows Firewall and it has yet to let me down either.
The thing is, when a FW lets something pass, you won't notice a damn thing about it. And I do mean FW, not AV. Firewalls seem to be doing very bad overall, with a few exeptions. Actually KIS with it's built in FW does way better than Win FW. Except Comodo and Outpost, it's the ONLY FW with good results. But KIS slows down explorer and that's too bad cause the FW is good, so better weigh it out. If it weren't for the slowdowns, I'd be using it myself. Looking at the test results, comodo in conjunction with a standalone AV and a malware agent is still the best choice. Have to be able to configure it right though, otherwise comodo is a pain in the butt. That's the reason why many don't like it, which is totally wrong. There are many guides on how to properly configure it so it blocks everything with very few annoyances. U have to trust the likes of matousec.com, cause it's the only way to know what gets passed through by a FW. Too bad only the few realise it...
Eating crow time... So here's the deal, I've been using Avira AntiVir Personal for a couple of days now, had to uninstall Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 (license expired). Lovin' every minute of it. Everything seems much 'snappier' now (I guess the 'rumors' of KIS slowing down Explorer were actually true, *inserts foot in mouth*). For Firewall, I decided to go with PC Tools' Firewall Plus. Tied for 2nd place on Matousec.com's Proactive Security Challenge test only behind Comodo's Firewall + HIPS component perfect score. I thought it was going to be more 'nosey', but it's actually very low profile. Pretty content with this combo.
U did some real investigation, and from common sense came up with a very nice solution indeed. This is how the decision should be made : well thought-out.
