Honestly, the light nature of Windows 10 is draining my eyes. The white background of file explorer is really killing me. Does anyone know where I can get a custom made dark theme for Windows 10?
I used Windows blinds one time when I was on Windows 8.1 and there was a significant decrease in performance. I couldn't cope with the lags so I removed it. That's why I'm skeptical on trying it again and instead decided to use a custom dark theme. Do you think Windows blinds lags that much or maybe I didn't configure it properly then?
No problem with WindowBlinds here in the past I'm not using it any more tho ! The theme I suggested works with [h=1]UltraUXThemePatcher So no need for WindowBlinds [/h]
Okay, I'm trying to install the theme. I've installed UltraUXtheme patcher. Now I'm seeing I have to install OldNewExplorer too. Did you go through all of that? What steps exactly did you take?
I only did install UltraUXtheme patcher to test the theme if you want the whole package you could follow the steps ! Make an backup pls before you proceed
I've gotten the hang of it now.. The OldNewExplorer is used to hide the parts of explorer where the theme doesn't work, like the ribbon. Thanks so much for pointing me in the right direction. I had searched deviantart for compatible themes before posting here but didn't get anything reasonable. Now that I know the right place to look, I'll try other themes also.. And for the record, You just saved my eyes. Thank You!
I just keep scratching my head why M$ can't come up with a decent theme engine. Here we are in 2015 and seemingly we have the same color controls as we did way back in Windoze 3.1 Didn't take Google decades to design something for the Android. I would love to have a dark theme on my laptop and other machines like I do with my Nexus 6.
Well is it that Micr$oft marketing is so inept that they don't understand what people want or is it the programmers that really just don't have a clue how to mak ean engine for the framework? Think about it, the last time anything major appeared in Windoze that let us customize our interface as we prefer was Windoze 2000. Sadly, I went head over heels back then...and these people still have not advance since then.
is MS u cant expect to much.....u can always use the feed back option in win 10 and tell them, u would like this feature added to the OS, u never know they mite actually do it.
Is this company really that sorry and pathetic though? I honestly cant think of another major company that is so inept in the last 20 years. Marketing or programming. At the end of the day, lots of us don't like this bright crappy windows with these sorry boring flat icons. Its 2015, we want modern and if you can't provide it then give us an engine where more skilled people take advantage of. How long has Linux window mangers allowed us to change the interface as we like...so it doesnt look like this crappy Win 3.1 Aero interface?
Having me use an interface that virtually looks the same as it did 20 years ago when I was in high school certainly doesn't please me. Consumers want options and having the ability to change our background screen or the title bar color doesn't really cut it.
I agree, there should be a dark theme like on windows phone. Light one looks like a 5 year old drawing on a piece of paper but dark one looks realy good despite it being the same design. Such a small variation for such a big visual difference.
remember windows 10 is still being upgraded and improved......maybe you will get dark theme down the line. i keep reminding u guys use the feed back option MS put it their for a reason they want to hear from u, if u dont talk to them they dont know....thats what the insider program is for.
Use the following registry keys settings [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Themes\Personalize] "AppsUseLightTheme"=dword:00000000 "SystemUsesLightTheme"=dword:00000000 "EnableBlurBehind"=dword:00000001
