My old copy of Windows 11 won't update anymore is there any easy fix so it will start updating again ? Running Windows 11 Pro 22H2 OS build 22621.4317 Installed on 9/17/2023 on a old PC
I really don't want to hassle with a complete fresh install setting up everything from scratch right now Can I just upgrade and keep all my settings and programs intact?
There are no options for older PC with Win11, 22H2 is end of support permanently, now at Microsoft they are saying if you want Windows 11 you got to buy a new PC.
@Markee You should be able to keep your files and settings intact and upgrade using the official 26100/24H2 ISO. The latest March 2025 builds can be found here. In case your PC's configuration doesn't align with Windows 11's system requirement, then you might need opt for some modifications beforehand.
LTSC 2019 is 1809 aka build 17763 - too old for many hardware and modern Apps. How about IoT LTSC 2021, which is 21H2 aka 19044 and gets updates even longer?
Ok going with this one I backed up my system drive and also made a windows restore point just in cast I made a USB install and enabled all the work arounds like the TPM requirement that Rufus offers I just need a safe Activator incase i loose my activation can someone point me to one please ?
@Markee A few things: A System Restore point is useless against any major change (e.g. OS version upgrade), so always opt for a true disk imaging service like Macrium Reflect. You don't need a USB bootable installer, since you are upgrading from an existing Windows instance. The bootable media is meant for a clean installation. The workarounds provided by Rufus can only be useful during a clean installation. Use the tool I linked above to make the modifications needed for an upgrade installation instead. @phynz As mentioned by @Carlos Detweiller, going from Windows 11 Pro 22621/22H2 to Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2019 (17763/RS5) is not an upgrade. Please do some research before spamming the board.
I would be surprised if there would be no crack/patch to enable the extended support on all Windows 10 Editions.
TSforge can activate Extended Security Updates (ESU) on many editions: https://forums.mydigitallife.net/threads/tsforge-activation-windows-esu-office-mas.88999/
