I'm awaiting the release of new Windows 10 machines, as there appear to be some out there now, and was wondering if anyone has the new Dell, Lenovo, or HP windows 10 OEM recovery Disks or Drive Images ? As I've 3 machines and want to recover the partitions as the OEM do... Thanks All
Microsoft discontinued the system builder discs availability for Windows 10. Your best bet is to upgrade to Windows 10 from your existing OEM setup, then make an image / clone that can be saved onto a separate hard disk in case you need to restore in the future.
Somebody needs to contact all the re-sellers and tell them what you said because they're all selling - [h=1]Microsoft Windows 10 Home - 64-bit - OEM[/h]
I have seen dell has a inspiron 3847 which comes with windows 10 in Demo. It has OEM license on it. I saw it in Bestbuy.
A friend called me Sunday and said QVC was selling a Dell desktop with Windows 10 for $699. She wanted my opinion, I said I didn't think they were available yet and wondered if it might have Windows 8.1 and will get the Windows 10 upgrade.
Dell and HP had Windows 10 PC's on sale (and possibly delivered) on the 29th. But, most are normal Windows 8.1 spec PC's with Windows 10 installed. It will probably be Oct before any have Windows 10 specific H/W.
windows 10 started shipping on some select desktops on july 29th i know because dell told me so when i called them by august 28th your default option is windows 10 for all desktops and most laptops/tablets some models of tablets wont be out until October though
My PC came with the 8.1 core x64 oem windows. I beg your pardon, because not noticed that already had another post with the same subject
Since July 29. 2015 the Windows 10 OEM is out already in Thailand in both: pre-installed on Laptop's ( a few day's later I saw the first desktops (from HP/Compaq) too); package with Windows 10 OEM in either 32bit and/or 64bit All available by some Manufacturers and Computer Super-Stores! That maybe were different in some countries, just should be solved till now!
No you don't..Install whatever version of Win 8.1 you had...The Microsoft tool to download the .iso's has SL,Home,Pro...Your covered.
I think what WinlinMac001 is trying to say that the A-brand manufacturers no longer deliver physical recovery media with their shipped systems. Which was the original question as I understand it. Those OEM discs are for the smaller local system integrators and don't include any target specific drivers or software. Essentially it's just a retail copy* at a lower price (*with some license limitations).
True! The OEM Manufacturer just placing 'Their' OS, Drivers etc. on the Recovery Partitions they creating on the Main HDD. Still both: Recovery Partition with the related software AND the Disk Medias existing already!
I do not understand, my acer came with Windows 8.1 and with the key in the bios and I made an installation with Windows 10 home, he activated the internet but not utelizou the key OEM that built into the bios.
If you weren't looking at those videos online with the women in swimsuits on the beach, you wouldn't have fogged up your glasses.
Because Microsoft is now changing to keep the Hardware IP (HW-ID) instead of the Product Key! While even installing from and original Windows 8.1 Laptop, MS accepts the License Key (which is in BIOS), just change that to an generic P-Key and keep the HW-ID of your machine an 'Passport' on their servers.
Thanks guys I wasn't expecting so many replys... I realise that manufactures now send out PCs with a hidden drive containing everything. In there, there is a Factory Folder and that has the goodies in and I think you can make a backup set from that... It's those I'm after if anyone gets them. I want to re-create the partitions as an OEM does, as Microsoft hidden partition tool takes ages, longer than installing from scratch ? crazy but true, you'd think with their experience in coding by now they could do the same for OEM providers. I have seen a few OEM laptops with windows 10 already on, I tried exploring and found the Lenovo one had the restore to factory tool on it...So Lenovo are still doing it the win 8.1 way still, and I'm sure DELL are although, I'm still on 8.1 with dell and Microsoft report Dell are still working with windows 10 to deliver windows 10 to you...
