Running a Windows 7 Enterprise at work that is connected to a domain.

It is a desktop PC and it is giving me all sorts of issues that requires a fresh install, I can reinstall the machine by myself without asking our IT department & safe a lot of time, but then IT still needs to connect it to the domain - Is there any way to extract/save it's domain account to be restored when finished, saving & restoring the SAM reg file does not work.

Not really as a new install will give the computer a new SID....You need IT to join it to the domain or have domain privileges allowing you to do so.

I'm no expert, but shouldn't one be able to just change the SID value to the old one ? - this could really benefit domain users with Win7,8 & 10 :D

I don't believe there is anyway to do that and I don't believe that even if there were it would connect to the domain. SID is generated by sysprep normally not something you can write as you choose.

Would be a security hole if it was easy to do.
