I thought it was my imagination, but I am pretty sure that my battery life is not as long since switching to Vista ultimate (even though I read the opposite is supposed to be true). I am strongly considering switching back.

    Configure your pwer settings

As I can see Vista has much better power menangment than XP you can setup 3 preconfigured powershemes, that has much more options than XP.
So having more options to set powersaving scheme it is logical that the battery life will be longer if you have properly configured them.
You can allso save your own custom power shemes besides the 3 default that you can configure.
The trick is to use the corectly preconfigured powerscheme at the rignt time.
You can easely change your curent powerscheme by clicking on the battery icon next to the Clock "bottom right corner" and choose the one you like.
    You can allso try this:
    1. Configure one scheme for max power svaing.
    2. Configure the other as max performance.
Note. Use advanced option while configuring.
And than look at your battery life and post back.
