From my experience with MAC's is yes, although you need to be 'logged' in via a apple account to 'set it up' then once that established just disconnect from the internet. I think you may be able to use 'Guest' mode but that is limited and not much use.

It may whine at you now and then about not being backed up to the iCloud etc or even iTunes etc, but it can be used ok.

I have a 6th Gen iPad which is used now and then, and a old MacBook Pro which is offline that i also use to mess about with music (FL Studio), i also have the DAW on my Windows PC.

Add .669 and .AMF to the list. Module Tracker (MOD), Scream Tracker (S3M), Fasttracker (XM) etc. Those were the times! Still have my collection somewhere... ;)

This was what we listened to, long before MP3 was an issue!

Not as good as i would like but I'm still alive and kicking.

I just seem to have had a bad deal with the cards of life!

My dad used to say, "if it wasn't for bad luck, i wouldn't have any luck at all", appears to be true for me :D

Wish you well on your musical journey, it can express a lot about a person, their feelings, hopes etc. A Diary in Music.

The Amiga 500, the C64, and Roland/Yamaha sound equipment were the pioneers of their age.

Oh, just found a few .it (Impulsetracker) files on my computer. Good ol' WinAmp still plays them.

These days you can't even format and reinstall the OS from their "BIOS" w/o an internet connection

Hi mxman2k, I too use macOS for making music. I am not too fond of using it as my daily driver, but I absolutely love how stable and (feels) easier to write songs/music on it. I particularly love how seamless you can integrate your other Apple devices to use as instruments and/or mixers and tools. Windows works ok too, but for some reason my hardware like midi controllers etc can become laggy/buggy at times. And what I really dislike about windows is that it seems to get 'clogged' over time which sometimes leads to random errors and nitty gritty crap to sort out when I really just want to focus on the current song. I don't know about you, but when I am in the 'zone' when writing, then I need not be distracted at all. I have a demon named Procrastination that I am currently battling, and the tiniest distraction can derail me in two ticks.

oh and DITTO on "Listening to my early music attempts make me cringe now as they are awful , but we have to start somewhere. :D"
Funny how at the time of writing some of my own songs, they seem great, but years later on a playthrough, I often wonder what the heck was I smoking when I wrote it. Hahaha, that's life I suppose - we are forever incomplete.

Take care, I enjoyed reading your post(s) and I hope you will regain the longevity in your concentration soon.

    Leo

Of course yes, the troubles comes with updates or internet depending options but it's that it's obvious. No mail, no browse, and updates over wifi.
