Are you installing drivers or are you using registry keys to block binaries ? What would prevent one to disable that ?
AskAdmin uses some complex methode not only one , because 1. deleting a registry key or 2. rename a blocked program can easily override protection , and it would be unacceptable
Could u add "deny internet access" feature like for admins, or allow only for normal users or allow to exec files with normal users rights only administrator wont be allow to run them to minimize security exposure
I'm new to this program and it seems quite handy. Alright but I need to know what methods AskAdmin uses too. Also I got an issue: I added GoogleUpdate.exe and block it. But, The line "C:\Program Files\Google\Update\GoogleUpdate.exe" is not shown in the ini file. Also, it seems to run again when I launch chrome.exe.
They used Windows programs-block mechanism (in the OS registry) + change access rights. You can look at my blog posts (second page for now) to see how easy is to unlock this "complex" program. Look in the OS (background) tasks, then you will get how the Google Chrome is executed. But, better option is to use OS FW (FireWall) to block programs that should not have the internet access, if you don't use your own.
Please show an example. Runtime Error (at 172:846): Internal error: Cannot access 64-bit registry keys on this version of Windows. Better explain it for me, don't wanna crack my brain I know my friend. As a matter of fact I use TinyWall to block everything by default and allow what I need only. Even so, I want to stop execution of GoogleUpdate.exe and many other stuff coz I don't want waste of resources. And coz I like control.
I see that I also need to look at my program :] An easier way to explain is to get CC (CCleaner) and check the background tasks tab. All Chrome-based programs uses the background task to update itself, which is executed on every OS starts/user login. So, probably the background task of Chrome reverts the changes done by AskAdmin.
GoogleUpdateTaskMachineCore and GoogleUpdateTaskMachineUA scheduled tasks are disabled and they stay so surviving Windows' restarts or Chrome's executtions. I asked Sordum team and waiting an answer...
LOL they sent me a workaround which is about renaming Update folder to Update2 ("C:\Program Files\Google\Update") That's not an answer as for why AskAdmin is not doing its job with its own methods.
