I will tell you when mine eventually turns up

    Seb

    EDIT
Only said that, as my unit was supposed to be in on the very day.
And then they postponed UK release date to 6th July (so they can make money on the Vista overpriced model)

    Hi Yen,

    Thanks for trying. :)
It dosen't look to good for modding this BIOS for Windows 7 then, which was the reason I was thinking of getting one. :(

Anyway, theres a guy on a Revo forum thats going to try both BIOS's to see if they work. So I may get an answer. :)

    Thanks Sebus. :)

    @Everyone,
The guy has updated his Vista Revo to the Linux BIOS without any side effects so far.
But his running Windows 7 so can't check activation.

I also run Win7, but as the slic exists I am sure it would activate.
It also will activate XP with Acer SLP (as confirmed by oembios.exe)

    Hi Guys,

    Some good news.

The OEM Table ID in the Linux BIOS is wong, it should be
But the Vista BIOS has the right one. :D

None any more, got rid of it, as it was well underpowered.
Asrock Ion 330 in comparison is perfect for £80 more (well worth it)

    For £330 (Revo £250 + £80) I'd build myself another Quad Core. :p

We have a Revo, an Eee PC B202 and a MiniNote, around the house.
All are used as thin clients from the Quad Core main PC or the WHS.
So the Atom has easily enough power for most of our useage.
The one place it was lacking was HD video, which the ION chipset seems to have fixed. :D

I'm so sorry! I must have been stupid! These are AMI bioses! AND of course we can modify them....stupid me:D;)

The 8C8A1P06.ROM contains a acer 2.0 public key and marker at F0 module.
The R01-A1L.ROM contains no SLIC regarding to andyp's tool.!!!
andyp's AMI tool should do the trick and SLP21 will be possible..

    I'm sorry I don't know why I was so much mistaken.....

    Hi Yen,
    No worries Dude :)

I saw on the Windows 7 forum that Acer have changed their activation abit.
So i'll wait till we have an Acer Cert before i'll try adding the 2.1 SLIC, on my Revo or Aspire One. :D

    Whos said £330?

    I paid £170 for Revo & £250 for Asrock Ion 330
I see no way to get any box for that money that is equally small (I do not want massive box any more) & can do the same (full HD playback) and DVB-S TV (with vPLug)
Revo was choking on vPlug, hence to me it was WAY underpowered
    Of course milage will vary

As its the same price as the Revo, then yeah. Thats a great deal. :)

How were you watching DVB-S on the Revo, I've not seen a USB DVB-S tuner?

Sky are just wireing up our block now, should be done by end of July.
I'll have to try and find one of those tuners.
