"Associate a file type with a program"

    For some time now, when I download a .rar file (I use Win7), the file icon that appears will be a VLC file... Its not a problem as the right click menu includes 7zip.

    But when I try to change that on "control panel > default program > Associate a file type with a program" I cannot find .rar in the offered list... ?
    .7zip is not there.....?

    then use 7 zip as default if winrar is not installed on your system.

    I am using 7zip. What I want is to add it to the "Associate a file type with a program" in the control panel>Default programs. so the icon will change...

    If you want to install CAB file updates from the Windows Explorer (with the special context menu entry from Winaero Tweaker / script from here), leave the CAB association unchecked. Otherwise, associating all is OK.

    Thanks, but I never use WE... although according to ccleaner, it does something by himself?

    If you don't want to install Windows CAB-based updates from Explorer, you can simply check all.
