Hello, i own a K53SV, i used a modded BIOS File, restarted and nothing worked anymore i am really upset!!! I looked and i saw, that i should use as emergency recovery filename: K53SV.bin, but its NOT - i repeat NOT Sucessfull. What for a Keycombo i should use? FN+B, WIN+B, FN+ESC, CTRL+HOME - nothing works. can somebody help me?! i have a FAT32 formated USB drive. what else i can do, dont want to send it to ASUS. i read on another topic, that sometimes i should "decompress" the whole bios to get the real recovery name of the file. how do i know if my bootblock is still ok? i ONCE entered the bios sucessfully, AFTER flashing, than it crashed. so is there any hope
I think you can use ur CD or DVD delivered with your motherboard. Boot on it, then you can restore your bios with it. Read also the manual delivered with your mobo, all is inside. Good luck.
I found this on the web: Format a flash drive FAT32, download the original BIOS, rename it K53SV.BIN and than copy it onto the flash drive.
ok here are the news: none of the methods mentioned above worked. so i went that crazy that i disassembled my notebook, removed the battery and put it back. that helped. AFTER that, i (just for fun) tried again CTRL-HOME - it worked. my question here - was already somebody able to open the "chipset" menu? i want to deactivate nvidia optimus or even better - to choose what card i want to use!
Hello Iulian1989, I have a big problem with my ASUS K53SV Notebook which has the same problem with you. I tried to download Mod from rawdroid.com/k53sv/ and restart laptop, Then, the laptop was rebooted but window did not work. However, LED always shows and then I tried to follow the method from this forum but everything did not happen. The LED from flash drive also did not blink. Please help me and advice your method? I hope you can help me to slove this problem.
besides trying to reset cmos by battery short or removal then trying CRTL Home keys.. have u tried with USB Floppy and bis file properly named ? u can also make backup.bin of bios chip with USB SPI programmer then upload and we can merge it with the original same version u had and should be good to flash back the fixed.bin i post. USB SPI programmers are cheap nowadays $15 or less.. some are $35.. those are the good ones for ease of use.
LatinMcG, from your suggestion .... I would like to know about your method. How can we merge file? Tell me please.
I tried to do from your suggestion but the hex file is ALL FF!! Then, I tried to flash but anything did not work and cooling fan also didn't work.
yes i would also suggest that you remove the CMOS battery - i had exactly the same problem and it worked that way.... i have now another notebook because i was nerved by it
if u already read chip with SPI programmer and erased it without a proper backup.bin.. thats bad bad bad. if u erase chip.. u lose a part that is NOT in the bios DOWNLOAD that belongs to your specific laptop.. serial and MAC numbers.
Solved I Had my friend who was updating his X53S i7 bios and was turning off the notebook by itself. I removed the board and it was a k53sv rev 2.3 . I found the bios chip , i rewrited back the original bios from asus site , but it didnt worked because the bios file was 2.6 mb and the full bios dump was about 4mb . I bought a chip especially for this model , but i read the dump from it and written back to original bad bios ,and the notebook started and worked nicely like before . I'm happy that i could help my frend notebook because it is hard to trash an i7 notebook So if someone interested i have the new bios working , or the dump for half price Cheers **mod** around gmail.com
