I know for a fact these were shipped out to people already, however I cannot find a share for it anywhere on the net.

In fact all we need is SLIC 2.1 in BIOS to get Windows activated and according to some posts here ASUS have some sort of utility embedded into the upgrade disk that adds 2.1 into BIOS.

I tried flashing 2 different models of Win7 eligible ASUS notebooks (that came with Vista) with latest BIOS, but unfortunately that did not produce the desired SLIC 2.1.

I'd prefer using a "legit" method of adding SLIC 2.1 rather than use a modded BIOS if possible.

    Any input on that?

    Thanks for that anmg:)
I'm finding it quite hard to understand the instructions tho...

    Anyone care to translate?

    Edited:

Ok, so this tool was taken from a Vista recovery media, why then should it add SLIC 2.1 then?

This is a google translate from Chinees
As far as I understood this tool will modify Asset tag. This tag describe which version of Windows (Home/pro/ultimate) are allowed on this Notebook from ASUS OEM Media.
We have the tool now, but I am not sure how to use it.
    Try at first reading command:
    bt /r 27 or bt /RF:bios.dat
Please post the result together with information about OS factory preinstalled on NB.
As to bios mod I think a man who shared the tool do not understood what he has and not all bioses contain slic 2.1, for example old models.

    Thanks for posting that anmg....
I went through that whole translated thread and to be quite honest I simply don't have the guts to try it...
It is unclear whether this actually worked for someone at all...

Is it perhaps possible for someone with the necessary skills to analyse this?
I wouldn't want to end up with a brick...

On the other hand, this would be a great find...if it works :D

    Cheers,

    NR.
