    newbee here..
so i have this antique laptop..
use it only for chat and office, when away from home..
works fine.. on xp..[asus intel atom cpu, 1.33 ghz..]
so i connect to wifi in my hotel tonight.
    slow................. on 54 mb/s wifi..
    wants to upgrade netware......
    so i let it.........
    even slower..........
so i lose patience and uninstall avg 2012, which is a
resource hog and no good anyway...........
    bad idea.........
machine refused all system restores but the
    avg uninstall one..
and system restore was needed, the thinghy
connected to wifi, no problem, but refused
to load any sites until i went back to pre-uninstall..
and i refuse to do a backup and fresh install in
    a hotel room at night..
i have since seen some stuff about uninstalling
this garbage, but really, why use free scanners
at all on such limited machines, i wonder? have got
a feeling that the future end of support encourages
the likes of avg to let their garbage be garbage..

Can't help you with that, I'll look around but haven't heard anything like this before. On a more personal note. I run AVG on a 900mhz 1gb ram Asus eeePC 900HD and never notice its running, hardly a resource hog on that little machine and its running Windows 7 Ultimate hehe.

Sorry, not much help, but interested
