Hi guys, I've been using windows 10 since its release and now I'm concerning its privacy issues as I'm a huge warez and torrent user. At the same time I'm a visual studio user so I have to some how stick with WINDOWS though we have linux alternatives. What is your recommended version of windows for me, 8.1 or 7 ? I'm liking 8.1 over 7 cz it's new. Will the updated versions of 8.1 and 7 act as win 10 when it comes to spying ? Also I'm non-US citizen Thanks a lot
Don't think that you're with Windows 7 and/or 8/8.1 on a better stage! Telemetry and 'spying' were also used in those older OS'es from Microsoft, just Mic rosoft never talked about it as they din in the development of Windows 10! That said, the only real near 100% working solution is Linux! Did you like to use that? If yuou did, you'll face other problems! Nothing is perfect, it's as easy as that! What really should someone do? Isn't it that to know what's going on, is ways better than NOT to know?!
You don't have to worry about the statement from Microsoft saying they will disable pirated software, that was about products they make. You can look around on this forum, there's so many posts about blocking microsoft and keeping your privacy. The very best way to block windows from phoning home is with a modem/router firewall with filter, URL block.
As great a boon to mankind as the Internet obviously is, its one, horrible flaw is its potential for the dissemination of misinformation. Somebody somewhere makes a half-witted post about something he actually knows nothing about, it gets picked up and spread by two or three people and then it becomes a geometric progression that snowballs into a tsunami and is picked up by Internet "news" and gossip sites where it's repeated again and again--and suddenly people start believing it en masse' simply because they don't know any better. And yet, the info is just as bogus and devoid of fact as it was the first time it was uttered in some ill-begotten corner of the Internet by a clueless individual. If you are as you say a "huge warez" guy--trust me when I say that Microsoft is absolutely the very last entity you should be concerned with...
@dilexman don't give up just yet just keep updating windows 10 and hopefully things will get better. Just take look at build 547 see how many improvements?
Microsoft doesn't care at all what cracked programs you use. MS, just like any other software developer is only concerned about the programs you crack that they develop. I have used many programs from all different manufacturers, and for some it is a constant battle to keep them activated. It is all the same now matter what you use. Use what ever OS you wish. I use Windows 10 build 10547, Microsoft Account, Express Installation, many, many cracked programs. Everything is good.
I'm sure you have a open mind and can make a objective decision. Read what WaltC posted, can things get blown up, yes, can MS collect data, yes, can they see what you have, YES, do they care, NO. Now say someday a company comes along and is losing to much money, say NSA thinks you are watching bad movies, I think you see the point, now, what would be better, MS not having any data on you, or having everything you have done and all you have had on your PC. So if anyone was to go after MS with a warrant to gather more evidence, well the point is, putting your data out in the world, is this better or not, you decide.
LMAO, i would be worried your ISP and where you download you torrents from than an OS from Microsoft.
