Since January update, I get desktop black wallpaper instead of usual nature image on Windows 7 Pro.
As soon as i change it, it gets back on next login. Icons are still there.
Does anybody else have same situation ?
My Windows 7 Pro is activated with Loader 2.2.2.
Is there any chance to restore normal wallpaper ?

    Thanks in advance for help.

Where is the wall paper pic stored?
I keep all of my wallpapers in "C:\Windows\Web\Wallpaper\Landscapes" and it always is what I see on any update or reboot
(you can add any pics you like into this folder, and you have to use this folder when you select your desktop pics)

Wallpaper picture is stored in C:\Windows\Web\Wallpaper\Landscapes\img10.jpg. But black theme reverts back after reboot.
I wonder whether or not it's related to January 14 updates.

Latest update get broken wallpaper, screensaver, sound theme.
I have same problem with PCs.
Black background and don't work Stretch image.
There is a possibility that from the last bug there is a problem with the inability to show the image. Black background removed the choice of themes, because at first it didn’t mean the second problem and a simple change of picture did not work.

    EDIT: KB4534310

Seems I'm not the only one.

Uninstalling that one KB update restored everything back to normal for me.

Same boat until I removed that one KB update.

Not suggesting you do it, but mine is normal again and not sluggish either.

Didn't know my posts were here too...sorry.

Same issue with black screen and changed sounds.

As in the Desktop screen saver and sound system. Windows Default one.

Even had a hard time trying to access and use Windows Gallery for images. They just would not load after saving.

Even found on reboots and start ups - sluggish.

I uninstalled that "4310" KB update and everything went back to normal, but it did take an hour and a half to two to properly uninstall.

Not sure if the right move or not, but now there are no dramas.

Mine is in "My Pictures" too.

Still glad I got rid of 4310.

  13. Then how come you had the same issue as everyone else? Oh wait, maybe it's because I have my wallpaper tucked away in two subfolders of the main one.

What a disgrace for M$ for this last official Tuesday patch. Even Security-only update is bugged. I count on ESU.

Forgot to take off "automatic updates" because that pesky "4310" update has found its way back and is waiting for me to finish it off by rebooting.

Will uninstall it tomorrow yet again - have just taken off "automatic updates".

    Thanks for this!

Looks like that this bug does not appear on freshly installed windows 7 (ALL UPDATES INTEGRATED BEFOREHAND WITH ISO)

@Dolmatov - You saved me 1 and a half hours. That took like 10 to 15 mins.

    You deserve a medal!

Thank you so much - really appreciated.

The problem is in the user32.dll file, if you replace it with an older one, the bug disappears.

To reproduce the bug, change the setting of the desktop background image to "Stretch" and reboot.

Where do you replace user32.dll file with older version?
    I have several user32.dll files in C:\Windows\winsxs
Is it in C:\Windows\System32 only ?
