HI, I'm trying to mod the bios for my new P8Z77-V motherboard. I've tried using PhoenixTool 2.09 without success. From reading posts here it seems you can't mod the bios downloaded from Asus, you have to flash the bios and then backup the flashed bios and mod that, I'm I right assuming this? I've tried using Universal BIOS Toolkit 2 but the backup is saved with a ROM extension not CAP as the original.

    I'd appreciate advise.

    Thanks.

Thanks _patrik_ did you mod the bios downloaded from Asus or one that you backed up after flashing? Do you know is the change from ROM to CAP a different format or just a name change, in other words is it possible to rename?

I modded the original bios dowloaded from the Asus. Modding by means the phoenixtool with the dynamic option.
For my P8Z77-V LX, as stated from Asus, is blocked the bios backup by means the Asus tool bupdater.exe

I know that the change from ROM to CAP is just a nome changer to allow the possibility to pass Windows 8 WHQL test as stated from Asus
