i have a asus x550za laptop which i hardly use. it is about 1.5 yrs old. I keep it charged at all times. When i disconnected it from the charger today it lasted less than 2 hrs before it needed again. According to asus it should last between 5 to 7 hrs. Why is the battery draining so quickly and what can i do to fix it?

    thx

After having the laptop for 1.5 yrs and hardly use it, I find this unacceptable. What would you guys do? Asus gave me a ballpark figure of $330 just to look at it and I told the guy that is crazy. Ideas plz?

    thx

@marchy: I'd say the same thing. You don't have to spend a fortune on a new battery either. Hunt around for a generic replacement.

But be careful. Batteries are dangerous, as they can catch fire.

A trick that a phone tech showed me with phone batteries is to take it out and spin it on a table flat down. If it spins, it's swollen and probably bad.

    1. What OS are you running on the system?

    2. What applications are installed?(iTunes drain battery like hell in Windows 10 Build 14986)

    3. What does your battery test say about it?

    4. Is the system overheating?

    5. What other hardware connected to it externally?

    6. Do you often use it for playing games?
