battery will not work off its own charge for some unknown reason help please !

    hi , at the moment i am on holiday in spain and my friends laptop battery will not work offf its own charge not even for a milli second as soon as you unplug the charge cable it will shutdown ! um almost certain that it isntthe battery but any suggestions will be gratefull many thanks barrytroter1

    about 2 years he said and is there anyway to check if it is dead or not ?

    my laptop's battery has become history in 1.5 years...
    It was my fault, I left my laptop in discharged condition for about 4-5 month....
    I replaced the battery with new one...
    and now it's working fine....

    right i have a new battery in the laptop and it says that its charging but when i remove the cable it stil immediatly shutsdown ? and i have fitted a brand new battery !!!

    well, there's your next clue, i think the power supply for the laptop is aging as well and needs replacement.
    else it may be a hardware failure within the laptop, maybe something to do with internal power-regulators
