About 2 years ago I upgraded to W10 as part of the free upgrade even though my W7 (ultimate) wasn't genuine. If I recall correctly, I didn't do a clean install, which is probably why I had seemingly endless tech issues, leading me to revert back.

Since then I've installed a SSD, leading me to guess it probably won't recognise the previous install key. I'm in a difficult situation so wanted to know what's my best option to get it for free? I've also read about how new updates cause serious problems, so I'm reluctantly moving to W10 for security, I've always had Windows and am accustomed to it. But I'd also like an unbloated/user refined version? Could you link the best install guide pls, thank you.

I got confused when I saw the many stickies, they're not self-explanatory. Could you link the thread, and does it answer all my questions? Thank you.

I wonder, if you made mistakes previously, why don't you now want to upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10 again without errors. Everything still works and if your Windows 7 key has already been used on the same computer, you will automatically get Windows 10 activated. If for some reason your key is blocked, such as that it has already been used once, then you can use the DAZ loader and you will get it at any time activated. You can also use any genuine Windows 7, 8, and 8.1 keys that have not been used before for activating Windows 10 and you'll get permanently activated Windows 10 (activated with digital license).
Of course, you can also use other methods that have been suggested above and before.
But again - any Windows 7 and Windows 8-8.1 that are activated can still be upgraded to Windows 10 without any problems. If You don't want several times reistalling (ie make clean install after w10 activating), use Genuine ticket method, it also works.

If the previous upgrade resulted in a hwid activated win 10 pro, then now a new install of win 10 pro will get hwid activated too, as long as the system is not changed significantly (mainboard/lan), and even if a new clean install doesn't pick up the previously established hwid you can google for massgrave and use mas for a new hwid, or use kms_vl_all as suggested by @ruuu7 .

When you want to re-upgrade to 10 from the currently installed activated 7, it will still get a free hwid anyway.

Thank you for all the responses! My W7 was actiavted by Daz loader, I didn't know it can also be used for W10. I thought a new hard drive/ssd which windows was installed on meant the original activation key wouldn't be recognised? How do I now re-start the upgrade process ensuring it wont happen again? Is this my best option? Thank you again.

You said you upgraded from an activated 7 to 10 before, that would have resulted in a hwid/dl activated 10 install.

If you're now on an activated windows 7 ultimate install and extract a windows 10 consumer ISO and run setup.exe, it will upgrade to 10 pro and you will end up with a (new) hwid anyway.

So the best/easiest way is to just a consumer ISO from this link? (Daz loader counts as genuine activated??)

But I can't figure out which is the actual download I need on that page, there's so many! I'd prefer the most optimised/bloatware trimmed version if you'd recommend that?

How on earth did you decide to go for a no more supported build from all the builds you can find in the sticky threads?

I'm confused lol, I followed the link coleoptere2007 gave, and it pointed to that thread to download W10?

Also, I just read that I can use ESU bypass to get security updates for Windows 7 until 2023? How likely is this to be broken/undone before 2023? Would it require me to check updates are safe before installing every time?

Absolutely. Even doctors stop resuscitation at some point if it is clear that this is a pointless activity.
A coma longer than a few minutes will not save the world or anyone in this world.
So trying to keep Windows 7 alive for a few more minutes won't help anyone in any way. It only causes a lot of completely unjustified problems.

Thank you for the helpful advice! Now I'm still confused as to which W10 build to use:

Could someone tell me exactly which build is best for me and link it, and what it is called on the page? Thank you it would be very much appreciated

Thank you, in this link, which is the actual download file for W10 ISO? Is it the 1st link in the download list, there are many links in the download list (I don't know what any of it means)? And do I need to download anything in addition to W10 ISO itself?

So once I have the correct ISO I'll just follow these steps and then activate with KMS or will it (if all runs smoothly) activate automatically because I upgraded in the past?
