I bought a new lappie and the old one goes to my 3-year young... What do I do with the old lappie? Which OS? And which educational and fun programmes? All for kiddies, of course? Let's see the best... Many must be interested, I guess...
Might consider trying elementaryOS now that it's finally 'finished' as of yesterday. It's very lean, very fast, and very basic overall, based on Ubuntu so it's got a lot of potential support behind it if required, uses the same repositories, and it's actually pretty damned nice overall.
Thanks so much for this thread. Does anyone have an opinion on which of these is the least challenging? I have a relative (9 years old) who is mentally challenged - I believe that is the politically correct phrase - whom I am sure would enjoy this. I have a couple of retired HP Elitebook 6930p laptops - I wouldn't mind dusting one off, install a Kid Linux and give them their first computer. Already gave one kid a 17" HP Envy 3D laptop, which left me looking like I was playing favorites. This would put me in good graces again.
You're very welcome! Try installing 2 or 3 - it's all cool to try and have fun with... On one of my laptops I installed 4 OS - 2xWinblows and 2xLinux... Oh, add Edubuntu to da mix, 'course...
Eeerrmmm... any hints, please? It's not quite straight forward... or am I expecting who knows what...??? Thanx!
Thanx! Is it as easy as Ubuntu to install and setup, please? Debian, from my previous experience, was not so straight forward and easy to install... Admittedly, I tried a few years ago...
