Since I've found any satisfying answer (even with my buddy Google ) What is, in your opinion, the best undelete/recover software to get data back after a quick format on HD ( actually Pentax RAW type pictures .PEF) Please tell me pros and cons.Thanks.
I have alsways been a fan of DiskDigger. It won't break your wallet ($15 U.S.), It's small, lightweight and does the job very efficiently and upgrades are free for life. The only con I have about it is that it does not recover files with their original file name, although DiskDigger is constantly being improved upon and I have not checked in some time now, it may actually have that feature by now. Just Google DiskDigger by Scorpe.
Easeus Data Recovery Wizzard Professional, Active File Recovery Pro, Ontrack Easy Recovery are all of them are very good and unfortunately: Payware!
Back2Life 2.8R Recovery Back2Life works with file systems FAT, NTFS and CDFS on all Windows ® and supports recovery from hard and removable drives, and digital media. Restores almost all! The demo version of the restriction on the size of the files
i use kernel tech data recovery, it works perfectly for me. i think i got it for $50? not sure, been so long. Price isnt too bad and you get a pretty dope software.
I have to give TestDisk huge props. I found out about it in another thread in these forums. Had a HDD with a badly hosed partition table. Had already tried other methods to recover without much luck. TestDrive got me 100% recovery on my files/data(over 300GB). Yay! TestDrive!!!
