Hello there, I've been using Windows 10 LTSC since years. Right now I'd like to update to the latest build of Windows 10 but keep the greatness of LTSC, how can I compensate that? Should I install latest Windows 10 Enterprise Edition latest build with the latest August updates? Where can I find that? Thanks a lot to everyone
If you ask me, Windows 10 2004 is basically like an LTSC; it has been available since Spring last year and it is still supported now just fine. It is true that they released updates for it, like 20H2 and 21H1, but it fundamentally is the same build (19041 which they artificially bump to 19042 and 19043), most system files are identical, the updates are more like a cosmetic change in the name. So yeah, pretty stable as a base, I have been running 2004 based installs just fine until I have recently switched to 22000.1.
No, it will force you to install the EPs at some time, fake upgrading you to 20H2 (19042) > 21H1 (19043) or directly to 21H2 aka 19044 and probably go on this path till Oct. 10. 2025 People always seem to want the latest LTSC anyway, throwing away the only feature no other SKU has: No forced upgrades by WU for 10 years (new LTSC just 5).
Install the latest W10 version (Pro for Workstations or Enterprise), and run Get-AppxPackage -allusers | Remove-AppxPackage in PowerShell. That will get rid of majority of UWP apps. If you need Microsoft Store, there's another command you can run in PowerShell to reinstall it.
Yeah that's what I did, I installed Enterprise and ran that command. I think it's the best option right now, since I don't even use Microsoft Store and never used it, I find it useless Where can I find on this forum the latest W10 Enterprise or Pro Workstations with the latest update available? Because I downloaded it from a not so safe source
I'm unsure about Enterprise, but Pro for Workstations I think exists in the official iso you can grab from Microsoft directly (Win10_21H1_English_x64.iso; probably the same case for other languages/arches). I use ei.cfg to get it to show as a choice: Code: [EditionID] Professional [Channel] Retail
