As far as I know its a case of removing media centre, and since when I install Windows the first things I do include installing latest VLC and K Lite.

Also it would be good to have a little less usage on a iso since I have reached the limit for a dvd 5 and I dont want to waste a disc every month to update.

So shall I just use N? and if so does my regular HP OEM key work?

If you have an OEM key, it will work for exact one version. To check the key: The Ultimate PID Checker.

N versions have their own key.

BTW: What's the need of any codec pack when using vlc :g:? Never needed to install codecs since Win 7 :cool2:.

Interesting, the reason I asked was I have 7 pro keys from MS Student and they seem the same for N and regular so assumed it would be the same but wasnt 100% sure(since its a OEM HP I have)

Not the end of the world to have a non N version just media centre is useless to me and I use VLC and K lite for everything, used to be VLC for pretty much everything but it isnt very good at framerates/vsync compared to K Lite

So that just confirms it, a shame really as I want to use my 7 without MP.
