Hello guys. Posting after long time here. I am using ryzen 2400g cpu on asus b350 plus mobo from 2 years. I updated bios frequently whenever it is available. So in 2 years i updated about 15 times. 2 days back after bios update i got bsod seveverral times. So i downloaded previous version bios file and started flashing to downgrade. After 60 percent processing system hanged. Reset button not working. Then i reset power to see that there was no response from cpu. Just monitor trying to find signal and stopping. I tried cmos battery reset and jumper reset. Still no response. According to manufacturers there is no restriction on how many times we upgrade or downgrade bios but some forums say we shouldn't downgrade bios or there is a limit on how many times we can upgrade bios. What do you say ? I already paid for new gigabyte mobo ab350m gaming 3 model and it is coming tomorrow.
Yes there is 3 years guarantee on that Asus mobo which i really forgot in panic that it was spoiled and i wanted an immediate replacement with new mobo. I should call Asus today and ask for the same. The seller of new Gigabyte mobo said that this model i bought yesterday is much better than Asus. Thinking i should keep it and send Asus board for replacement. If it repaired for free i keep it as spare for future. Asus B350 plus vs Gigabyte AB350M Gaming 3
well if he doesnt have a lot HW experience i dont recommend it to spend the money on a programmer also their two types soft brick or hard brick...if is hard brick the mobo is toast.
right, just suggested that as a possibility... I meant if they do not accept to replace board, lost for lost, it might worth a try. But they probably will replace it anyway.
You can buy a bios chip for that pc on eBay. They are soldered in and you would need to take it into a shop to get the replacement chip installed. The chip is cheap ($10.) but I do not know how much somebody with the equipment would charge to install the chip. ( I have seen you tube video's with peeps doing this with a hot air gun)
I guess it is hard to find a hardware level chip soldering guy in India privately. I called Asus and they said if the board is not physically damaged they can repair it for free. So i sent mobo through the seller who sold me 2 years back. Hope it will return repaired. If not , i won't feel bad for it because i used it for 2 years. Again yesterday my boot sector of hdd gone with bad power supply. My house got a sign wave inverter and also pc got APC UPS and still hdd spoiled and unable to boot. I ran all bootrec commands through bootable win10 USB on hdd. Commands were successful but still system unable to boot. Using strelec usb i booted and moved all imp files to another hdd and re-installed Win10. Though i was taking much stress from 4 days i am happy now because of fresh OS which is booting within 5 seconds. Old installation used to take 15 seconds to boot.
Windows 10 .... It wants to be found and installed so it can be the one Operating System to rule us all. Not true in my case. I hated win 10 for up to 4 years after its release because it ran like a tortoise on my old hardware. And one day my system crashed like what happened 4 days back and then i chose that Asus B350 plus mobo on Ryzen 2400g cpu with 8 Gb ram. Satisfied with quality of gaming, video and audio. After a year i upgraded to 24 Gb ram. Now i like it so much. This is actually above average gaming pc configuration but i still play old console games and pc games because old is gold.
Good news today. Asus accepted to give a new Mobo as replacement. They replaced on 23rd January itself but my seller did not inform me because he didn't know and me neither. I decided to keep the newly purchased Gigabyte 350M Gaming mobo which is running now. I got several thoughts on the replaced Asus 350 Plus mobo. Should i sell it or keep it as spare. Because in 2021 AMD is going to release 5 NM cpu on new Mobos which are so interesting to have. So keeping this Asus mobo as spare is useless. At same time if i want to sell, i can't give bill or guarantee to the buyer (if there is a buyer at all) because it is replaced mobo. In Amazon and other sellers websites Asus 350 plus board price is 10,000 Rs ( 147 $ ) and above. But when i purchased it was only 7000 Rs ( 102 $ ). Nobody dare to buy a new mobo without bill or guarantee. But i know there is still one year guarantee on it. Not sure what to do.
If you sell it you'll have to provide the warranty yourself... meaning that if it fails within the 1 year the person who buys it from you will have you go through you to provide another rma on that board again. It is very unlikely that a second board would fail within a 1 year time frame. If the board has issues, it will show right away. And if not just have the buyer send you the board back for another RMA. It's just a risk you must take by selling a second hand board. Statically the board will be good for more than the remainder of the existing warranty time frame. You should test this board yourself first to be sure it will post and boot up windows before you offer to sell it.
Yes i must ask my seller to check mobo and bios version before i bring it home. Then it will be sure that board is working and supports latest Zen 3 cpu. Hope somebody may buy it for less price.
I was in high hopes that a new mobo will be given but Asus company just repaired my board and sent it back in the same box which i provided. I called care and they said that meaning of replacement is that they give a same model mobo in working condition but not a new sealed one. Can't sell it then. I keep it as spare and use if i required.
i have a question, what's the point of upgrading the bios 15 times in 2 years ? didn't you think that it's taking too much risk to brick the mobo by doing that ?
I didn't know that upgrading bios frequently when update is available will kill it. As for the information from manufacturers and internet, there is no limit on how many times you can update it. But a few people say Bios memory is a delicate thing that it dies after few updates.
theirs always risk when updating a bios if something goes wrong during the flashing u brick your mobo...this why when u flash the bios make sure u have the proper bios version check in the forums no one is reporting issues after flashing with the version your going to use and very important make sure your machine is hook up to a UPS before u flash because if the electricity goes out during the update your done....in my opinion if your computer is running with out any issue with win10 leave the bios alone dont touch only update it if the vendor send a mandatory update to patch a security issue if not leave it alone.
15 bios updates in two years never heard of it , even my laptop 3 years old only 2 bios updates available.
