Hello, I flashed the bios of an ACER Z3770 PC with version P11-B0 and since then I have a problem detecting the hard drive: The disk is well detected on the port but it no longer appears in the Hard Disk Drive Priority... If I reset the bios by removing the battery, the PC boots without worries. If I reboot the machine then I get a Disk Boot Error and the disk is undetected again. I tried to flash the previous version P03-A2 but couldn't because I think the previous version flash is locked. Do you have an idea or a solution to this problem? Maybe an unlock Bios is necessary for a rollback version ? I have a fresh dump make with a CH341 but i can't post link because i'm new here. I've been looking everywhere for 5 days and I can't find anything. Thank you in advance jonathan
@Tiripstruk31 For the Acer Aspire Z3770, BIOS version P11.B0 was meant for the models shipped with Windows 8. The default settings should be optimized for UEFI booting on this build. Was the operating system in your existing hard disk installed in UEFI mode? Can you please share the partition layout of the disk?
If you can dump the bios I can try and look through it with uefi tool and see if i spot anything wrong.
Hello, For sure, i have a fresh dump but i can't post a link here. Can i send you by PM ? The computer is delivered with Windows 8 if i trust the sticker on backside.Actually, it's Windows 10. I just update the bios (and regret) with no particular reason and now, i have this issue.
Try post Your link like the following: Code: h_t_t_p_s_:_||forums.mydigitallife.net|threads|bios-issue-on-acer-z3770.84980|
Oh really ? This is a really good news! To be honest, i have this computer opened before 4 weeks now without find any way to repair it. You give me a hope Thank you
while im doing that it might be a good idea to look into your motherborad and see if your bios chip is soldered or removeable. If its removeable That will be helpful as theres another option I can try if this one dosent work.
ok can you send me a picture of it If you can then thank you Im going to see if I can buy the chip off amazon so i can see if my idea would work
@Tiripstruk31 No electronicist will never do that by this way, because in that case they will interfere with each other and the result could be catastrophic. If nothing else happens, the input and output resistances and capacitances will change in any case, resulting in unpredictable results. In any case, the old one must be removed. If you have already tried this method like on the picture, the new chip may also be already damaged and useless.
I know it's not the usual usage but believe me the component is fine and not damaged at all. It is readable, detected and in perfect condition. I had no other solution to read the chipset, the clamps didn't work. I would just have to find someone who could help me understand and modify the bios to find the correct operation of the machine. Now that the dump is done and correct, even if I have to change the chipset, it won't be a problem. Thank you
You have a usb flash programmer? you could just replace the rom with the older one. If you dont know how to do that I can gladly help
I have the CH341A yes. I look for write the old bios file but the size isn't the same. My dump is a 8MB file and the Rom from ACER is only 3MB. Can you help me please to downgrade it ? Thank you
