i have new bios for my pc runinng windows xp but it needs to go on a floppy but i dont have floppy drive in my pc can i put it on dvd or usb these are the files autoexec and awdflash can i put them on 1 or the other or can i just run them to update bios thanks.
1. Make a dos-bootable pen drive using Rufus. 2. Put these files in the root of the pendrive (overwrite if prompted) GC_xxxx.BIN (where xxxx denotes the version of the BIOS) AWDFLASH.EXE AUTOEXEC.BAT 3. Boot from it, it will automatically start flashing.
thanks again tito ive got rufus but theres no install for it so how do i use it been back on the download page but it does not give instruction so at the minute im stuck on how to use rufus any help please. thanks its ok i think i downloaded the wrong 1 got it now will it see usb then do i format usb pen.
@tito ive tryed doing the boot dos. but im not sure what settings to use is it freedos or msdos i know its not isodos ive ran rufus but not sure sent the 3 files to usb pen and restarted pc but nothing happens and there is on autorun icon so when i reboot do i press f2 for bios update or f8. when i press f8 i cannot see usbpen to boot from thanks
1. Use MSDOS for better compatibility. 2. First make it bootable. 3. Then just copy GC_xxxx.BIN & AWDFLASH.EXE in the pendrive. AUTOEXEC.BUT isn't needed.
thankks tito thats the bit i dont understand 2. First make it bootable.ive formatted it with msdos.but how do i make it bootable thanks
@tito what ive done is ticked quick format. ticked creat a bootable disk using ms dos. and ticked creat extended label and icon files. is that it. then send GC_xxxx.BIN & AWDFLASH.EXE in the pendrive. should that just boot from that thanks. that gives me 986mb (h) and fat default thanks
