I have a Gateway DX4710-UB801A computer. when i check the bios version with Everest it reports the bios version number as 841P041G with a file date of 5/16/08. When I go to the Gateway site to download a bios update the site lists this bios version ( 841P041G ) with a file date of 10/28/08 to download for Vista 32 bit and doesn't list any bios file for Vista 64 bit. I have Vista 64bit. Would anyone know why it would make a difference which operating system is used and why the file dates would be different? I am thinking of using a bios mod and don't want to mess up. Thanks for any help: Frank

You installed vista X64 yourself? if yes, that probably explains it all, not?
If it only ships with Vista X32 there is no need for them to release a x64 bios

Thank you for quick reply. No Vista 64 bit came loaded on computer when I purchased it. It is a refurbed computer if that makes any difference

Well 99% of the time there are no individual bios updates for x32 and X64 systems... so probably you can use the x32 bios without issues

the difference in date i can not explain.... maybe it is just the post date (when it was posted on website)

Thank you. There was a bios mod posted for this bios number in the bios forum, but the modded bios file was no longer there. I just wanted to make sure it would work before I aske to have it re-uploaded. Thanks again

There are no 32/64bit BIOS versions LOL :D. Maybe flashing utility used isn't compatible with 64bit OS so they wrote "32bit"...
