    Hey,

I have an old D915GAG board here that won't play nice with a HD5450.

I think the new cards don't like the old BIOS of the PCIe 1.0 enabled board.

Is it possible for the BIOS to be modded for the newer cards to function?

I'm pretty sure the issue is BIOS related rather than electrical.

    Cheers

Probably not, as it is more like the electronics limitation
Also this board is SO old (yes, I have one of them as well, makes perfect Mac OS X) that might be easier to just replace it

It's easy and cheap to replace, but I was hoping for a very cheap option as the person it belongs to is not very well off.

I have been reading that some OEM boards of similar design have had BIOS updates supporting the later graphics cards. I figured it was a long shot but thought it was worth the ask.

Thanks for the reply at least:biggrin:

I can get hold of an old 3450 and see if that is old enough to play nice.

Or nVidia 8400 (cheap & cheerful) and performs very well in this board
