Wife used my desktop and now I have a bios virus and I can't reinstall my OS. I want to flash my bios but of course HP does not have the original bios. Can anyone help me out? My mother board is ASUS P4GV-LA (OEM for HP). The desktop is HP Pavillion A1110n. I have tried everything and come up empty

    Thanks in advanced

I really appreciate your help, it seems my only choice is to flash the bios

The site seems to be down - would a mod be under a different name?

There will be absolutly nothing wrong with your bios something else must be causing the problem try another dvd, before you even try reflashing you bios especially when you don't have original HP bios.

I have this already, it is an updated biops file not the original .bin file. The award flash utility I am using will not accept it.

    Thanks though.

Hey Urie - I tried a new dvd and even the recovery didks that originally came with it but no luck. i VEN TRIED TO Swap out hard drives without any luck eiether. After much frustration and research, it seems that I am relegated to either getting a new chip or flashing this one.

    Bios virus?

How do you know? Have you flashed a mod before? I don't think it's a bios virus! In fact there is no real bios virus. The bios itself is read only.(ROM)
You should identify your problem before you act.

Before you're going to do something wrong (bad flash), please describe exactly what's wrong. If a virus at all then a bootvirus........../ bootsector / MBR problem or improper bios settings / hardware issue. Try to clear CMOS also to delete wrong settings, load setup defaults, save and exit. If you install W7, delete all partitions before and re-create them. Use RTM retail version.

I tried that and when I get all the way to the screen to chose which partition to install the OS on, it shows that I have no existing hard disks (I do) and when I enter to install the OS I get the error

    This is a hardware error.
