@ kennyboy, do not open up another thread about your bios all the info you have posted on other threads only leads me to another two forums you have posted on you keep posting motherboard information and you have been asked to give the model number of your Packard Bell computer example I have a Dell Inspiron 530 the motherboard is made by foxconn but the dell bios is different from foxconn it has obviously dell slp and slic strings in it. Also I even downloaded the .speccy file and had to download the program to get your report to be honest from what I have read on other forums your problem is not your bios you are trying to add third hard drive and having problems I think you have not set the jumpers correctly i,e, master , slave , or cable select. Another point is even HP or Packard Bell do stop support for older computers i,e your bios is 2003
so there is no update. and yes the only other thing i have done is put in a second hdd. i have ide connected propley master 1 hdd slave 2 hdd thats it on the second hdd there is no jumpers and thats a maxtor 80g thanks
You say there are no jumpers on the maxtor drive on IDE connector 2 are you sure there shouldn't be one and what about your cd/dvd rom what are the jumpers set to on that. You are saying so there is no update we don't know we do not have the information required to search HP or Packard Bell web site we do not have the model name.
@ redroad, believe me I have searched you can only do so much with the information you have any way at the end of the day kennyboy is looking for a bios update nothing to do with Xp, Vista and Windows 7 activation bios mods it is because he cannot fit third hard drive IDE. Just try searching google here is a post from another forum at least now members are geting real info to the problem. as I said before I do think it is to do with jumpers i,e, two cd/dvd drives one obviously must be master and one slave
you may be right but its not cd/dvd drives 1 is master and 1 is slave thay are right its the hdd my master hdd as jumper but second hdd slave does not have jumpers i think you read post wrong the slave hdd is the 1 without jumpers its a maxtor 80g hdd i will look later at s/n number thanks
Are these the original hard drives you had in computer if not try putting the original two back in I cannot believe this is a bios problem if computer was originally working before you started messing around with hard drives.
