    Guys Good day,
sadly my wife's ASUS Tablet Win 10 jumped into Bitlocker.
when we turn the Tablet on it asks for Bitlocker key.
no one has ever configured the bitlocker or anything.
tried to reinstall it , even boot from usb unfortunatlely nothing works.

any suggestions how to get this fixed ?
    big thank you guys

BitLocker is only enabled automatically on certain devices if you sign in with a Microsoft (or domain) account. So you should be able to obtain the recovery key through your Microsoft account.

If you cannot obtain the recovery key you will have to do a clean reinstall.

Depending on your device you may need to use a specific button combination or to turn off Secure Boot to get it to boot from USB.

surface pro 3 come bitlocker enable.....first u need to go into control panel settings and get the recovery key....then boot into safe mode and remove it.....im sure asus tablets work the same.

Do you have any USB devices connected while booting?
Any connected while booting can disturb Bitlocker.

    Thank you for your answer.
Secure boot Support is Disabled on the BIOS however booting with the usb is impossible .
i am trying to boot using a usb bootable media to do a fresh clean.
didnt you mean that with clean install ?
    thank you

The case reminds of the story of the guy who installed a file encryption freeware. Only it turned out to be shareware and when the trial period expired, his files remained locked and he had to buy a key at a ransom price. Nice trick, kind of legal ransomware.

In my experience, the most likely person to be locked out with such systems is yourself. So I’m glad my Home version doesn’t support Bitlocker – I’ve just checked to make sure. And I’m not even using a login password for extra…security.

Back to the case. In theory, it only actually encrypts your drive if you sign into Windows with a Microsoft account. Your recovery key is then uploaded to MIcrosoft’s servers. Consequently, if you were not using a MS account, it shouldn’t have happened. Tell that to MS support and see if they can find a solution.
