When I press the start button on my Lenovo V570 it gets hung up on the initial page that says Lenovo in large white letters in the middle of the screen. In the lower left corner it says "Press F2 for enter setup, F12 for enter MultiBoot Menu". In the lower right corner there is a bar that gets hung up immediately at about the half way point. I can't start the computer in SAFE mode with f8.
maybe a defective harddrive, enter bios setup (F2) and check out if you can find a disk installed first
sound like a dead harddrive, it causes to hang at postboot as the disk can't be initialized properly, do you hear strange tickin or clickin sounds? remove powercable and battery, try to disassemble the harddisk. It's most likely dead or at least dying after removing the disk you should be able to enter bios / uefi with F2 flawlessly.
No ticking or clicking sound. One of my friend had tried the steps you have mentioned but the same hang prob. I forgot to mention--- Actually this is my cousin laptop. He is novice. He said something updated & asked for restart & after restart the hang prob appeared. I suspect BIOS update. And I think it messed BIOS.
There are quite a few BIOS mentioned there. The laptop hangs at Lenovo screen & on the right side bottom "Phoenix" with semi red circle is there... does this means the system has Phoneix BIOS? UPDATE - I have posted on BIOS Mods thread.
