Just built a brand new PC with 9950X3D and 5090 and installed Win 11 Pro with all the latest updates. The PC is locking up during gaming but also when just browsing randomly. In Event Viewer, I see this error every time it locks up: Code: Error setting traits on Provider {8444a4fb-d8d3-4f38-84f8-89960a1ef12f}. Error: 0xC0000001 Really frustrating as I've tested the system with CPU & GPU benchmarks and it seems to be stable. Would really appreciate help with this.
Rather start by testing your SSD(s) and RAM. After those pass tests(hopefully), look into your peripherals. A friend of mine had weird freezing+sound issues and it turned out to be her funky razer headset...
I always use the tools of the manufacturer. I guess reinstalling windows will take just 4-5 minutes on that hardware.
In that case the only thing I can think of is some issue with your RAID. I'd try the same SSDs but without the RAID array. Can't imagine what else could be the culprit.
RAID 1 can be major problem with SSD nVme. Test figures look good but hardly needed. Gave up with RAID 1 on solid state M2 drives several years back, because of crashes.
Hmm.. interesting. All my games are installed to that RAID array so I'll have to test without it somehow. I played BF6 Beta yesterday for several hours without a hitch - not a single problem. I tried playing BFV and the whole PC locked up after 5 - 10 mins - on FOUR occasions! I repaired the BFV files in EA App but to no avail. Really frustrating tbh... I have RAID-0 for max performance but as you can see in the graph above, the performance of the RAID array is HALF that of the OS Drive which is a single NVMe. Something is definitely off. The RAID-0 array is on the M.2 DIMM 'card' on the motherboard so that the GPU can run at full 16x PCI-E 5.0.
@shhnedo @Enthousiast A quick update. I disconnected all the USB devices except for mouse, keyboard, and mic (usb-c) and the PC froze/locked up this morning while browsing (low load). It also froze once on the title screen of CoD. Had to hard-reset both times. I ran sfc /scannow and DISM commands and no errors were found. I ran TM5 Extreme again for several hours yesterday and no errors were found. I played BF6 Beta for > 3 hours last night and not a single problem. Could the OS Drive (Samsung 9100 Pro 1TB) be the culprit? Should I reseat everything including AIO cooler, GPU, RAM, and DIMM M.2 card which has the 2x Samsung 9100 Pro 4TB in RAID-0? They all were installed properly the first time around - I've been building PCs since 2009 so make sure to check everything several times. On that note, the AIO Cooler (Arctic Freezer III 420) was a major pain in the _____ to install. I had to wrestle with it for a while to get both screws to line up and go into the slots to be able to install it. Finally got it in there but am dreading having to redo that all over again.
If the raid array is giving you half the speed of a single drive why persist with it. No real world benefits of raid, ditch it.
Could the OS Drive (Samsung 9100 Pro 1TB) be the culprit? I have the same drive for a OS drive no problems here
