Thanks for the reply LatinMcG. I see that link has the .DEC and .SIG files, do I just copy them to a USB with the file/folder structure in the second link, then flash? Or do I need to do anything else? Will try when I get home from work and let you know if it worked.
I managed to get the correct file names etc, used your decrypted file and got my own 2 files using the phoenix tool. However, it's still not working. More info on what I did is in the screenshot below: tinypic.com/r/sd2ntc/6 However, neither work. I have done the following: Take out battery Hold Windows + B Plug in USB Plug in AC adapter, still holding Windows + B Power on the laptop while holding windows + b (all the time) Wait 15 seconds, then the same bios recovery failed error occurs. Any more advice?
Yeh my secondary backup partition is still named "HP_TOOLS" on my HDD, is that why it isn't loading from the USB?
I don't have a USB on me at work at the moment, but bought a SATA -> USB cable and connector so I'll go into the HP_TOOLS partition and replace the .bin and .sig and let you know if it worked
dont replace.. rename so u can keep a copy of that one already there. (recovery should have used it if u see them)
All working now thanks Just had to rename the old bios files in the HP_TOOLS partition that came on my laptop, added in the new files you supplied and followed the instructions.
