It's becoming more frequent, meaning on more sites, but right now, it's just several (but not all). However, the only exception is my modified version of Firefox which displays fonts correctly. And yes, ALL my drivers et al are current. Everything is current. I verified with the manufacturer and Windows Update. I have Win10 21H2, Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.3920.0 installed (I haven't been upgraded to to 11 yet) and I upgraded from Home to Pro using the tools/instructions in this site. I have a Lenovo laptop and NVIDIA 1060i video card. I tried using the integrated graphics card with NVIDIA disabled and I still have the same issues for certain sites. However, even on a 2013 Windows 7 and my W10 work laptop the issue isn't present. It doesn't matter what browser I use except the modified FF browser. I reset my font in Control Panel too. I can't think of anything else aside from uninstalling and installing my NVIDIA drivers, Has anyone seen this before? I'm attaching a screen print.
With Windows upgrading and using KMS, there is no relation. This is a focus assist that doesn't work. There maybe something wrong with the settings, it may be at all forbidden or does not work for any other reason. So I recommend you start looking for the reasons of this. It may also be related to GPU or its drivers.
Thanks. I have updated and uninstalled the GPU drivers, performed some workarounds to reinstall the font cache in case they were corrupt. Some of the procedures could not be performed because I don't have that service installed (for an unknown reason). I believe I tried everything. Maybe it's time to accept it can't be fixed. I will likely have to do a fresh re-install of my Windows 10 Home, the NVMe drive is being replaced under warranty from the image I created when I got my laptop. I will see if the issue is present and then upgrade to W11. If not, update all the drivers, re-examine the issue. If ok, I will create a new image and attempt to upgrade from W11 Home to Pro using the previous generic key provided last year when I upgrade from W10Home to W10Pro. Or maybe I will stay with Home. I don't know right now.
Good question. Normally, I would have just went to Pro, with a regular desktop PC. However, since I'm using a pre-fab Lenovo laptop I want to ensure all the drivers and other applications that came pre-installed will also be installed without me having to install manually and individually. From experience with other laptops like Dell and HP, things just don't go well when I install the drivers and OEM applications separately that otherwise came packaged with the laptop. Fortunately, with Lenovo, they didn't bundle much bloatware.
*bump* So I performed a successful "upgrade" to Windows 11 using my existing profile/settings. The font issue remains. I guess this means that even if I attempted to repair my computer, the issue remains. Argh.
Sounds like you have problems on a ' prefab ' computer with a doctored broweser and some services not installed / not working ............ and you tryed an inplace ' update / upgrade ' two times and it didnt work . = You need to do a clean install . You dont want to do that because your worryed that you'll loose some lenovo programs / drivers = Either you need an original lenovo install media with those things on it .......... or you need to copy your drivers out and put them in yourself .
If inplace upgrade didn't fix your problem means that the problem is not on the system but in your user profile. Try to add a new user and see if it works.
I did not talk to you or about you ,. I pointed outr that the thread is 10 days old ...... and people are still looking for needles in haystacks that might not even be there .
the last message, perhaps posted by you, was posted Monday (three days ago). So whats your logic? If what counts is the first message of a thread, 95% of this (and other) forums messages would be categorized as necrobumping
Did all the browsers with this problem are chromium-based? If yes, you could try turning of anti-aliasing option in nvidia control panel. Also, some integrated graphic drivers have this option enable by default so make sure to turn it off too
