Has anyone noticed this besides me? I've noticed this happening on this website, the Linux Mint Forums, on my e-mail providers website, mail.com, and a lot of retail sellers websites. I'll click the login button, or click to enter one of the sub-forums, or my Inbox. or click to check out a product, and I get redirected to all sorts of scam websites. Sometimes I'm told I need to install the latest version of Adobe Flash, or that my computer is infected and I need to call a 1-800 support number, or an ad asking me to join a 3D porn website. It used to happen very infrequently, but lately it seems to occur at least once a day, sometimes more. Anyone care to comment on their experiences or to offer advice?
@john: Which OS / browser are you using? I'm running Win 7 with Firefox / Ublock Origin and I have no problems here.
+1 on installing , updating and running Malwarebytes Also you can run AdwCleaner to see if that gets anything malicious too https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/
Hello @Michaela Joy - I'm using the latest version of Firefox with AdBlock Plus installed. I'm going to uninstall that and try Ublock Origin to see if it makes a difference. Hello @taviruni - I've being using Malwarebytes along with BitDefender Free for years now and perform scans every 2-3 days. Have yet to find a single thing. Hello @Joe C - I'll try AdwCleaner and see if anything turns up. Hello @Tiger-1 - May the internet gods keep smiling upon you. To be honest, I don't believe it's a problem related to either Windows or Firefox, I think it's the websites themselves. I believe that somehow their links are being temporarily hijacked and I'm being re-directed to alternate links that are created by these different scammers. Either that, or somehow my router has been compromised. I used to leave it on 24/7, but lately I've been shutting it down at night. I'm going to search for some kind of app that can scan my router to see if it's infected.
@john: I wouldn't be supprised if you ran into hacked sites. I suspect that credit card fraud is at its' peak right now. Be careful.

Hi John: I too had this problem several years ago with IE it's a little piece of malware that gets picked up at one website somewhere and sits there randomly flipping you to various sites as you describe does a real job on google searches. I did some posts on here at the time, I'll look for them , did a better job than I am doing now. When it does one of these flips, immediately run malwarebytes and see if you can catch it if you catch any names write them down then with another different web browser preferably on another computer search for "names you find , browser redirect virus , or malware" that should yield some leads as to what precisely it is Here's one of my posts on the topic. https://forums.mydigitallife.net/threads/dosearches-browser-infection.50162/#post-838238 and another https://forums.mydigitallife.net/th...h-isafe-virus-removal-tool.51063/#post-853832 and a third https://forums.mydigitallife.net/th...microsoft-products.28669/page-212#post-745782 ...T
I was on MSN news and kept getting pop ups for flashlight batteries I would X them out and a few seconds they came right back I ran CC and went back and I never saw them again I have had adds pop up before but when I x them they didn't come back , also on another site I do some downloading from nitro or RS I get the warning to update my flash or I have a virus I also get to many scamers calling at this time of the year. I even had a call from my grandson down in Mexico needing money , Christmas time all the scammers are out in full force be careful if called and your not sure if its a scam never answer a question with a "yes" they sign you up for subscriptions for magazines and get a kick back .
Im using ff 55 with ublock and https Running in env of user without admin rights Server 2016 Works great Thu yt getting stuck so i use addon to set to classic
Sorry for not getting back to this thread any sooner, but I've been really busy with doing the last of my yardwork for the season and getting ready for Christmas. I did two things that have lessened my redirects by a considerable amount: 1.) Updated Firefox from 63.0.3 to version 64.0. This update was available the day before my OP but somehow I missed it. 2.) Got rid of AdBlocker and installed Ublock Origin. Thanks to everyone for their replies.
