Hello all the Windows expert people!
Since past 2 days the Windows 10 is giving me a nagging headache by continuously failing to update the newly arrived update version1803 to my 2 systems one a desktop 32bit and the other is a laptop 64bit (both the systems are running the Windows version 1709 with latest build) . The windows Update automatically initializing, downloading and installing but stops at around 80 or 85% then it starts re-initializing/downloading (though I've set the metered connection) and installing like a never ending process.

I searched the net and this forum also for any solution but none of the solution worked e.i deleting the content in software distribution folder, scanning with command prompt (sfc/scannow found nothing wrong in the system) stopping the Windows Update Services and troubleshooting the Windows update etc.. nothing worked. It comes back with other updates like office.
Hope anybody be kind enough to reply me for my issue!
Any solution to avoid this upgrade or installation of this update?
    Regards,
    sid_16.

In your case I would download the proper iso's for your system's and upgrade from inside the OS with the iso ;)

I'd done this in past from Windows 7 but it always stuck at 33% for hours, being very frustrated I made a clean install.
Now for clean install, will render me, the loss of activation for few software. Which I'll have to contact the various software companies to reactivate them..a time consuming process.

    Anyway thanks for your suggestion!
    Regards,
    sid_16.

Thanks, MS for breaking the BT volume control. You could have at least fixed it before releasing the spring update.
Maybe the team is so clueless they don't know about it. Volume slider does not change BT volume when your BT is default device.
Did an 1803 upgrade. Broke BT.
    Clean install 1803. Broken too.
    17661.1001 clean install. Broken.
2 other PC with different BT adapters. Broken.
    Anyone here noticed it?

No problems with any of the machine I use with Bluetooth! Windows 1803 build 17134.1 is used on all those machines!

Does anyone know how to fix this? In 1803 it feels different and off. I had to change sensitivity settings, but it still doesn't feel line in 1709.

Open the old Control Panel by pressing Win-Key + R, key in control and press Enter, click on Mouse and change settings as needed!

I somehow, managed to upgrade to Windows 10 version1803 from version 1709 with the help of the MS Update Assistance and it took me almost 4 hours to download and upgrade.

    Hi all,

This happens to me every time an Anniversary comes out, I get to a point and it just fails. I am on 1709 and trying to get to 1803. Every upgrade I have just given up and nuked, and re-installed everything. I am fed up with doing that every 6-8 months. My Windows 7 install is 5 years old and still runs fine :-/ (dual boot).

I've gone through all common "repairs" clean start (MSconfig stripping everything), sfc. DISM, etc. According to Windows, my system is in perfect health. Every extra bit of hardware has been stripped besides, video card, CPU, Memory and 1 hard drive, still no love. Tried all methoids of installing. WIndows update (fails at 98% of install), Windows update tool (gets around 96%) and mounting an ISO, all the same result.

WITH this all being said, If I install a base Windows 10 install, on a clean image, I will be able to upgrade with no problems. I dont want to nuke again and I want to understand WHY it's failing so I can avoid this next time.

    The system is built system
    - MSI MPOWER X99A
    -24gb DDR4 Corsair ram
    -MSI GTX960 video card.

System is updated with newest drivers etc The Bios is updated as far as I will go,

here is the setuperr.log. Can anyone point me in the right direction ?

I run a small domain (normally for testing) and I re-direct my "My documents" to a mapped drive via group policy (only do this because I have a small backup that is run once a week on the server). I tried to do the upgrade as the local admin on the machine where no GPs are active with the same issue.

Could the policy be causing this issue ?

Check, if the driver version is the same or different. I have all Windows mouse features disabled and it feels the same.
    Code:
    reg add "HKCU\Control Panel\Mouse" /v "MouseSpeed" /t REG_SZ /d "0" /f
    reg add "HKCU\Control Panel\Mouse" /v "MouseThreshold1" /t REG_SZ /d "0" /f
    reg add "HKCU\Control Panel\Mouse" /v "MouseThreshold2" /t REG_SZ /d "0" /f
    reg add "HKCU\Control Panel\Mouse" /v "MouseTrails" /t REG_SZ /d "0" /f
    reg add "HKCU\Control Panel\Mouse" /v "MouseHoverTime" /t REG_SZ /d "0" /f

Loved this when it came out years ago..so i can view 5 pcs... an copy an share all my stuff..
No Homegroup 3.JPG No Homegroup 3.JPG No Homegroup 3.JPG No Homegroup 2.JPG Now its gone an i miss its simplicity..
The only thing i remember is using command prompt to net share..
but i miss seeing all my stuff when clicking my network.
Cos 2 pcs have not been updated they are the only ones i see cos they still on version 1709.
Any fix to view pcs on this damn version 1803...???

Seems one of the few intelligent things MS did in the last decade.

One thing less to remove from the WIM

Hi, after fresh 1803 install on a SSD drive I checked the EnablePrefetcher value in "HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management\PrefetchParameters", that is suposed to be automatically set to 0, and mine was set to 3. So I set it to 0 and disabled the Defrag scheduled Task, just in case.

    Anyone have seen this too?

On my gaming rig Edge lost all of my bookmarks. In my attempts to fix it, I inadvertently ended up sync'ing this empty list to my MS account so all of my PCs did it. Luckily on one I managed to export the old list and reimport it and sync it.

I've seen a few machines lose all of their network drive history.

Hi, after a clean install on a SSD, my value is also set to 3. But, anyway: could you please tell me if your boot time became slower after the 1803 fresh install? I noticed that mine became slower than the 1709 version. Am I the only one?
