in the article posted earlier about WU files in Vista being changed without users consent, they stated that the build number of the changed files was 7.0.6000.381 and the files that were changed were 1. wuapi.dll 2. wuapp.exe 3. wuauclt.exe 4. wuaueng.dll 5. wucltux.dll 6. wudriver.dll 7. wups.dll 8. wups2.dll 9. wuwebv.dll I just happened to have a tripled booted testing system kicking around with vista on it and decided to check and all the files on the system for indeed changed but the version of all the changed files was 7.6.7600.256 I am curious if anyone who has vista kicking around somewhere could post what version there changed files are to see if there any wildly different build numbers, so far we have the two following build numbers 7.0.6000.381 7.6.7600.256
thanks for the info It seems that Vista SP2 would be the same as well 7 SP1 seems to be 7.7600.320 there seems to be some older versions like 7.0.6000.374 but it might be just for XP
