You can get a Samsung M.2 NVMe 250gb drive for just over $100. Then you can use the rest of $$$ to buy a one or two TB platter drive for storage... Even the Samsung 500gb NVMe drives are under $200.
Unfortunately this is a very bad time for Australian shoppers because its currency lost a lot! I remember years a go online prices in USD were slightly lower than the AUD while now to buy something in USD100 Australians have to fork out AUD150-160. It's said that in 2018 the AUD will gain some value but if you wait, you'll have to change your part list. To build my latest system I waited so long time until prices dropped so significantly because I chose out of "trend" hardware which is still OK and saved the life of my pocket. And I missed the latest AMD bandwagon but I had to hurry to buy the parts for my Intel based build because parts were already difficult to find.
