Hello, i was looking at these sites where they offer windows 10 for like 3-4$ are they reliable ? will the keys they provide work globally ? is there any site you can recommend for buying windows 10 ?
A simple ISO upgrade from an activated 7 SP1 (DAZ Loader, key or oem:slp activation) > 10 or the generated genuineticket.xml option still give a free HWID for 10 Home or Pro. Or a real upgrade from a KMS activated 8.1 > 10586 will also give a free HWID for 10 Home (+N) or Pro (+N), next you can clean install or upgrade to 10563 (or newer).
Smart. -- I actually did buy every copy of Windows I ever owned until I got fed up with Microsoft's stupid activation system. Microsoft's viewpoint of me being required to repurchase the same OS for the same computer, using the same hardware, finally got to me. I recall one time in particular when I bought a HP or DELL (I forget which), which came with Windows pre-installed, becoming "invalid" and neither HP/DELL or Microsoft wanted to assume the responsibility. I think Windows 8 was the last time I bought a copy of Microsoft Windows.
The DAZ activated Windows 7 activation route unfortunately doesn't work on new computers with Kaby Lake processors which don't support Windows 7. I hope it still works with KMS activated 8.1 though.
Can't test 7 > 10 on kabylake (have no kabylake system) but 8.1 KMS > 10586 > 15063.xxx (or newer) should still work.
You need to learn about legacy mode installation/firmware modding & driver slipstreaming, but there is nothing like they don't 'support' Windows 7. On the other hand, @Enthousiast's suggestion is a viable alternative.
Yeah okay.. if you want to do all that.. firmware modifications etc., it may be possible but basically KABY LAKE does NOT support Windows 7. Microsoft intended it that way. (unfortunately for many)
In theory: When the mobo has the CSM onboard, enable it, next you can install win 7 in MBR, and you can use the loader on it (when uefi only you have to flash the bios to a modified one with the slic table in it and you can run the loader on it). The USB3.x drivers need to be integrated into boot.wim to be able to boot the USB installsource. Only the proper drivers can be hard to find, if the manufacturer hasn't published them.
It is possible to install Windows 7 on a Kaby Lake cpu, Microsoft will not give you updates natively if you have Windows 7 with a Kaby Lake cpu, unless you do not get the update to stop the updates for Windows 7 on a Kaby lake system It's not the processor or the board manufacture stopping you from using Windows 7, It's the malicious mind set of Microsoft that's stopping you from using Windows 7 with the Kaby Lake/ Ryzen cpu's
Enthousiast.. thanks for that.. as you say (in theory) it could be done. But I think the proper drivers may be very difficult or impossible to find. Intel doesn't publish video drivers for Windows 7 on Kaby Lake. And why would they develop drivers for a processor that is not supported by Microsoft.? I expect other hardware manufacturers wouldn't develop drivers either for the same reason.
