As per title, can I run ESXi inside VirtualBox? Reason being, I want to build an ESXi based server, hosting multiple guests, but I want to try it out first on my desktop inside VirtualBox. I figure I could then migrate the ESXi VM's on to different hardware running ESXi with minimum fuss. I have a Core 15 and 12Gb, so I think the desktop is capable of doing this, but is the software?
Thanks for the reply Sebus! Hope you are well. VMW8 is not a bare-metal hypervisor though, is it? I want a bare-metal hypervisor when I move over to the dedicated server. I guess I can just try it, huh
Sorry, must be missing something. Why would you want ESXi to be guest? If for learning then try ESXi as a guest inside Workstation 8 (for learning) (just do not use VB for it) sebus
ESXi as guest VMware Workstation 8 support ESXi V4 and V5 and V7 support ESXi V4 only I use it for testing purpose as I have 16 Giga of memory.
