Hi, i have a toshiba satellite l745 sp4206sa, it works but is really slow and i wanted to know if its possible to change the HDD for an SSD, i tried to google it but couldnt find anything on it, also i would like to put more ram if possible. Would appreciate some guidance.
you can attach the new SSD with External adapter and use Minitool partition wizard Disk / USB version, to clone everything. i prefer cloneZilla USB tool instead.
I dont know much about laptops, or computers in general, and watched some videos doing this but i wanted to know if i could replace the HDD on this specific laptop or maybe its possible on all o them? But thank you for answering
When it has separate removable covers for the drive and ram you can replace them fairly easy yourself but when it is a clam shell replacing the parts will be somewhat more complicated. The laptop seems modern enough for being able to handle a ssd, many ssd manufacturers have their own free cloning software and some even come with a usb docking cable. You also could go to a local pc shop and ask for their prices to upgrade the hardware.
I checked and it seems it has 2 separate covers so i assume you are talking about those, i'll try opening it later and see if i can try changing it myself. Thank you for the help!
you can check on crucial.com and scan your machine.then you'll see what parts can be upgraded and the different prices.
In fact, there is no problem at all. Of course you can, just before changing the HDD => SSD should make sure that AHCI mode (not ATA or SATA) is enabled in the BIOS. As for adding RAM, there is also no problem. All you have to do is put the right type of RAM, you can put 2x4GB = 8GB of memory together. Replacement is also easy, as this computer should have separate small covers for both to replace both, so you don't even have to disassemble the entire computer. Among other things, online are pretty good instructions for doing these things, also with videos.
I have checked your Laptop, Toshiba satellite l745 sp4206sa, specs and it can be upgraded. It has two slots for RAM with maximum of 8GB DDR3 1333MT/s CL9. If you already have 4GB RAM them you can add another 4GB to make it 8GB. It is as easy as getting any SSD and it will work.
I've already ordered the components and looked up tutorials on youtube so it shouldn't be too hard to do it myself. Thanks to everyone that commented it helped me a lot!
