Can I convert the Server 2008 R2 Retail into Volume?

    Hey guys i need some help, is it possible convert

    pp_windows_server_2008_r2_with_sp1_x64_dvd_617382.iso

    into this

    pp_windows_server_2008_r2_with_sp1_vl_build_x64_dvd_617411.iso

    by changing some files and then rebuilding the iso?o_O

    Volume media is not strictly required, you can install from retail media and then use a volume key for activation, the key determines which edition "channel" it is.

    Im looking for the PT-PT.

    Didnt know that. But it would work if i use MTK? I know if i install the datacenter i cant activate using the Windows Loader. With a VL iso, i think all editions can be activated with the MTK.
    Ive also readed somewhere that the only difference between the retail and VL is the ei.cfg, I dont know what is that and how that works.:weep:

    Myrrh is right, just change the key to change the edition of an already installed OS.

    ei.cfg determines the edition which can be installed by the installation media.

    :g:I though I could replace that ei.cfg of retail, from an English VL and then rebuild the PT-PT iso or any other language with that ei.cfg from English VL iso, and for like magic I could get the the same sha-1 from msdn.:jumpon: I really wanted the vl iso instead.:(

    I can mount the .wim , remove the en language pack and install the PP pack in the vl edition. would be close..do you have sha-1 of vl edition for 617411.iso? also sha-1 for 617382. iso , I downloaded it , but have no way to check it
