Can I use a legit W8 Pro key to activate W8 Core?

    I have a legit purchased and unused Windows 8 Pro upgrade key that I'm aware can be used for a fresh install with the various guides available.

    I'd like to install Windows 8 Core as it uses less disk space and the machine has very limited disk space.

    Can I use my key to install and activate Core?
