Hi guys I have a weird problem with a pc. That pc had win7 x64 installed (don't remember which version exactly home or ultimate) and by mistake when running an antivirus scan, something vital was deleted and after trying to reboot, it showed "chainloader /bootmgr Error 13: Invalid or unsupported executable format press any key to continue ," pressed any key and got a few options but neither worked out, and then decided to format the windows partition and install win7 ultimate x64. but it won't let me install win7 (any version) no matter what it takes me straight to "windows is loading files" no setup screen, no partition to choose, nothing and then it's stuck on the welcome screen, like every necessary file has been istalled already it does take winxp sp2 x64 just fine, but I really need it to have win7 the previous version was using orbit30 loader or something, not really sure any help? thanks!
hello actually, because the drive on the pc wouldn't let me install win7, I took a spare I had (exactly the same btw) and tried there the drive was not partitioned and had nothing in it if that's what you mean this is what i get when trying to istall win7 first it automatically jumps to loading files (no press any key to boot from cd.dvd...) then I get this and instead of getting this: I get just the blue background without any of the settings to choose
hello yeah it is here's an update: got it to install finally for some mysterious reason the setup screen took around 3 minutes to show up and the rest of the setup is slow like that too maybe it's because of this one PC? I mean, it installed super fast on my 2010 rig lol the rig for this "slow" pc is amd 3.0Ghz x4 motherboard MCP61M-M3 7.1 hard drive 500GB WD caviar green 1 stick of 8GB ram 500w psu 1 GB ddr5 graphics I know it's not something super-duper but this install should be a breeze for it
The longest time I had to wait to get the setup screen to install Windows 7 Ultimate, were on an an PC Chips MB P21G! It was taken near an ½hour for to get the setup screen. After that, the installe went ok and were finish within 20min and an P4 single core CPU with 2 GB Ram. I wasd need to upgrade the BIOS to get it to install anyway, with the origin BIOS, it wasn't start even read the Setup.exe from DVD! So I think it's a problem of the BIOS (in my case)!
hey m8 well it installed, but now i get random freezes, like working on a program and nothing works anymore and I have to reset I'm thinking it's the motherboard maybe? (ecs mcp61m-m3 v7.1) going to run a memtest too, but I really doubt it's the ram. I did install all the mobo drivers, graphics drivers etc the only thing that wouldn't work was the ac97 sound drivers of the mobo sound works with the nvidia drivers from the graphics card though googling about the mobo, found some people who had issues with the sound driver too
hello Michaela the bios is american megatrends version 080015 date: 06/10/2010 the mobo is: ecs mcp61m-m3 v7.1 and I'm currently googling but with not much luck took the battery out for a while to clear the cmos btw first the pc was dead, no post and black screen, then it decided to wake up I'm writing from this pc now, wondering if it'll freeze
cool thanks but I used this utility before i saw your post lol ecs.com.tw/extra/eblu/index.html edit: won't let me post link, google "ECS eBLU - BIOS Live Update Utility" already new bios maybe too late for mod?
hi got all the parts of the mobo working now (and sound!) thanks but eblue actually flashed with latest version just checked with cpu-z and it says 11/03/2010 so it seems to be working that way too I think I'm all set, thank you very much for your help guys
