Hi, Right to the question: Can Windows 7 be activated with OA 3.0? Windows SLIC 2.1 had backwards compatibility and could be used to activate Windows 7 and Vista, but, what about OA 3.0? [Update] Thanks everyone for your answers. Windows 7 can't be activated with OA 3.0, but may be done with SLIC 2.1. Check if your computer has an SLIC 2.1 with SLIC Toolkit (can't link to it because I'm a newbie in this forum) and if not you may use a loader or mod your BIOS. Daz's loader will need a MBR partition table and booting through Legacy BIOS (not UEFI)
I've tried already with this method: - Disable UEFI on BIOS Setup - Clean disk, create MBR, create an unique partition NTFS - Install Windows - Install SLIC common product key - Install certificate But it hasn't worked :\ Are there new certificates under the same names?
I read further on this forum up to SLIC Toolkit. There's no information about SLIC 2.1 or whatever, it's just filled with FF, like a placeholder :\ I did want to activate it legally, but my client will ask for a refund if I give this laptop to him with Windows 8 or asking him to pay 90€ more for W7.
OA 3.0 won't work on Vista or Windows 7 as it doesn't use a SLIC as you've found out. If you can find the BIOS for the system then maybe someone can modify it to also include a SLIC.
If I have a new laptop with windows8 can I nuke and activate win7 with a loader Loader is good enough for me never had a problem if it works with win8 hardware
I'd recommend using Josh's activation backup software (check out the projects and apps section) in case you ever decide to go back to Windows 8. You can then format and install Windows 7. The loader should activate you as long as Windows 7 is installed on a hard drive that's setup to use an MBR (master boot record). Just check out the read me file
