It's quite pointless for me, since I'm connected via cable, and I can't seem to do anything at all with the sidebar anyway. Double clicking on the only available network does nothing. Any way to disable it? It's mildly annoying when it pops up when I misclick the icon. It also, I think, is what causes the right side of the screen to be rendered black when Desktop Window Manager is turned off. The black portion of the screen is the same size as the sidebar, and since turning off dwm.exe turns off Metro rendering, and the sidebar is the only Metro element I can think of that I can reach from the desktop, it makes sense that it might be the culprit.
