Can you prevent Windows 8.1 Pro Update 1 from creating a username-based account?

I like to make my own custom Username for any Windows installation. However, Windows 8.1 Pro will simply create a Username for me based on my Microsoft account and that Username is just not tidy enough for me with dashes and not something cool and it doesn't ask me whether I want to type one up myself. The only way I found to prevent that from happening is disconnecting from the internet or disabling NIC in BIOS. Is there another way of doing so?

Yes, looking carefully down below in letters with blue color. No need to unplug network cable. :haha:

He's talking about the user folder that gets assigned automatically based on the first name of the account you log onto.
If you want to change it, make a new email, but set your first name to the desired username.

    For example:
if I wanted my username to be murphy78 instead of Murphy,
I'd use the name murphy78 blahblah
instead of my typical bogus email name Murphy SeventyEight

Or he can make a local account with desired name, then change it to MS account
